I was born in Kenya but moved to the UK at a very young age with my family. It seems that I was destined to return to this beautiful country. After getting married I returned to Kenya. My first safari was to the Masai Mara and after that, there was no turning back. The vast open space as far as the eye could see and the wildlife totally captured my heart and soul and reawakened my passion for nature and wilderness.
Though living in the buzzing cosmopolitan city of Nairobi, I look for every opportunity to get out and spend a few days out in the wilderness, soaking up the beauty of the natural environment, enjoy the wildlife and connecting with the local communities. Of course, I also love the coast too, Kenya has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! I am truly privileged to live in a country, on a continent, where we have so much and more on our doorstep.
It was a dream come true when Phera and I established Ahnasa Destinations. I now get to show others the beauty that Africa has to offer.

I am lucky to have grown up in Nairobi, Kenya – The Safari capital of the world. Growing up, my parents often took me out on safari around Kenya, where I developed a fierce connection with nature and wildlife. I left Kenya to study in New York, but the lure of Africa was strong and I returned home after university.
Visiting various parts of East Africa and marvelling at the landscape, the wildlife and birdlife, my passion for photography began. Now, I’m an avid amateur wildlife and bird photographer, and I look forward to travelling out into the bush as often as I can with my husband, my camera and a good book.
Every safari out in the bush is always a new experience. There is always something new, no two safaris are ever the same. The excitement, thrill, peace and tranquillity and every other emotion I feel when I’m out on safari is the feeling I wish for everyone to experience.

We are very excited to announce that Sara Jamal, a dynamic young woman and a talented photographer, will now be representing Ahnasa Destinations in the USA.
Originally from rural southwestern Pennsylvania, Sara never thought she would live in Kenya. That was just a place on a map far, far away. But, in 2011, she moved to Nairobi and lived there for ten years.
Nature has always been a huge part of my life and living in a country rich in opportunities to be in nature, I was in heaven. Every chance I got, I would head out of Nairobi and go on a safari in the Mara, go hiking through Hell’s Gate, or boating on Lake Naivasha. The possibilities are endless.
Although I began my working life as a therapist for children with special needs, a career which I loved, my desire to be in nature was not being fulfilled. So when the offer to join Ahnasa was presented to me, I couldn’t pass it up. Ahnasa’s mission to support conservation efforts and give back to the local communities makes me proud to be part of the team with Phera and Kalpana.”
