Africa has more species of diverse and stunning wildlife than any other continent. Some of the world’s most endangered species, including the pangolin, black rhino, northern white rhino, wild dog, elephant, Grevy’s zebra and mountain gorilla to name just a few, are to be found on the African continent. Sadly, with ever-expanding human populations living alongside the wildlife, there is increasing demand for land, food and water, and combined with poaching, more and more species are becoming endangered.
In order for wildlife to survive in their natural habitats, it’s vitally important to empower local communities so that both humans and wildlife can live harmoniously alongside each other rather than competing with each other.
At the core of Ahnasa’s ethos is conservation – to help conserve Africa’s extraordinary wildlife, preservation and restoration of the fragile environment and empowerment and enrichment of local communities. This we do through responsible tourism. As well as raising funds through our guests’ travels, we work and collaborate with companies sharing the same ethos of conservation.
In recent years travellers are becoming increasingly conscious about the impact they make when they travel as well as the impact their travels have on them. At Ahnasa Destinations our carefully selected destinations and the portfolio of properties we work with, along with our partners, ensures that every step of the way our guests are contributing to responsible tourism without any compromise on their travel experience.
With our commitment to conservation Ahnasa Destinations has introduced a conservation contribution fee for each guest booking a trip with us, which we match. As Shep Hyken said “All of your customers are partners in your mission”. Our mission is to protect, preserve and empower, and we are grateful for each and every guest who has joined us on this journey of making a positive difference. The funds raised for conservation goes directly to our vetted projects.

We support various conservation initiatives personally vetting various projects and organisations to ensure that our donations, or our guests direct donations to them are used in an impactful way. We also have a number of projects which guests can donate towards.
