Walking Safaris

One of the best ways to experience the true African wilderness is to go on a walking safari. Being on foot gives you the opportunity to tune into the rhythm of the bush, to its sounds and smells. As you observe the landscape, the animals, the vegetation at eye level, instead of from a vehicle, your senses awaken. Your hearing sharpens, your sight refines – and your heart beats a little bit faster!

Walking safaris are completely safe, and done with certified guides and armed rangers. Some camp’s offer an hour’s walk in the wild for the guests as part of the itinerary. For the more adventurous, a walking safari lasting a few days is a perfect safari experience, getting you deeper into the wilderness, areas that are inaccessible to vehicles, allowing you to truly get off the beaten path.

The Experience

Get your hiking shoes on and join your professional guide and set off on your walk. As you allow nature to unfold around you, your guide’s extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna will prove quite an education as they point out the various plants and their uses as well as any animal tracks you come across. You will certainly come across some wild animals, but with your guide and ranger close by, you’re in safe hands. If you are planning to do a walking safari for a few days, after your walk, you will stay in a tent overnight, continuing the walk the next day.
