Safari Experiences Part 1

Enjoying the beautiful view of the wilderness
As the saying goes “If you can only visit any two continents, visit Africa … twice”  Africa is an incredibly diverse continent, offering the traveller life altering experiences. With stunning natural landscapes ranging from the vast plains, desert, rainforests, mountains and beaches and the incredible variety of wildlife, Africa offers something for every traveller. When you visit Africa, your soul will be touched with unforgettable experiences and long-lasting memories.   Check out some of our top picks for life altering experiences. . .

An experience like no other. Put on your hiking shoes, jump out of the car and track the endangered Black Rhino on foot, in Northern Kenya.  While the adventure is centered around tracking these modern day dinosaurs, guests may even come across herds of elephants that roam the vast landscape as well as other wildlife. Whilst tracking the black rhino, the adventure also offers guests the opportunity for birdwatching and cultural experiences with the “singing wells”.

We recommend a minimum of 2 nights for this experience which takes place in Northern Kenya.

A very different perspective, a birds eye view of the incredible landscape and wildlife. Scenic flights are a great way for guests to see the beauty of the land, while also being able to access areas which are otherwise inaccessible. Experience flying over a flock of flamingos or over the peaks of Mt. Kenya. Your scenic flight will set you down in areas where most humans have not even walked. Scenic flights are also a great way to transfer between the safari camps, saving on time and at the same time soaking in the beauty from high up. Scenic flights are flexible, either as an activity on their own, or they can be combined with a transfer between your camps.

The Wildebeest Migration is The World Cup of Wildlife. If there is a safari you should go on, this has it be it. The Masai Mara and the Serengeti National Park together form what no other reserve or park in Africa can! It is incredible, it is magical, it is indescribable and it is a must!

Nowhere in the world is there a movement of animals as immense as the Wildebeest migration.  Over two million animals migrate from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya during July through October.  It is a spectacular experience!

We recommend January – March in Serengeti for the Calving Season or between June – August between Northern Serengeti and Masai Mara, and for really, as long as you would like, but a minimum of 3 nights is highly recommended.

Taking a ‘balloon safari’ is a bucket list item that people should experience while on safari. Floating silently above the majestic plains and gently gliding over the wildlife, the experience offers a unique birds eye view of the beautiful landscape and animals. The experience doesn’t end there. After the one hour flight, you will land on the plains for your breakfast in the bush. A fully cooked champagne breakfast –  a setting like nowhere else.

The Hot Air Balloon flight is one hour.  We recommend Masai Mara, Kenya or Serengeti, Tanzania for this wonderful experience.

There really is no wildlife experience as amazing as an encounter with the majestic mountain gorillas.  It is an experience of a lifetime! With fewer than 1,000 Mountain Gorillas left in the wild, it is truly a privilege to see them in their natural habitat. This unique experience can only be done in one mountain range in the world – the Virungas. A range of extinct volcanoes which run across the borders of three countries, Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Of the three countries, Rwanda and Uganda offer the best gorilla trekking experience.  Each Gorilla Trek, you spend 1 hour in the company of the gorillas. Gorilla trek permits are required to be purchased in advance.  Only book your safari once you have booked and paid for the gorilla trek.
Though the beautiful, pristine beaches of Zanzibar are the perfect end to the safari, a few days in Stone Town is a must with so much to do and experience.  A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Stone Town’s bewildering maze of narrow streets and alleyways will transport you back in time.  Experience the magical  charm of the once extravagant architecture of Arabic and Swahili influences as you walk around.  Despite the paint peeling from the walls, the shutters hanging off their hinges and the urban decay, Stone Town is a photographer’s paradise, a place that will definitely leave a mark on your heart. We recommend at least 2 nights in Stone Town to fully experience it.
